For part of our work we use modern technologies such as iPad’s. We feel that modern technologies are a powerful way for older people to re-engage with their hobbies, skills and interests. They can help to bring memory back to life.
The use of iPads offers a wealth of opportunities in the care sector, reintroducing older people to crafts and skills such at knitting that would otherwise be lost through a lack of dexterity.
Older people and those living with dementia can once again engage with their identity. Those around them will learn about the person they are, and not just the care home resident they have become.
By teaching modern technology skills through intergenerational work, Engage-Events is able to share skills and knowledge whilst helping to build a stronger, more engaged community.
